Published 2026-05-09 23:02:59 · Education & Careers

At the recent What’s Next with AWS event, Amazon Web Services CEO Matt Garman, along with Colleen Aubrey (SVP of Amazon Applied AI Solutions), Julia White (CMO of AWS), and leaders from OpenAI, revealed how they and their customers are fundamentally reshaping business operations using intelligent agents. The showcase featured two major product transformations: a powerful new workplace AI assistant called Amazon Quick, and a suite of Amazon Connect solutions that bring agentic AI to supply chains, hiring, customer experience, and healthcare. Below, we break down the key announcements.

Amazon Quick: A New AI Assistant for the Workplace

Amazon Quick is designed as a versatile AI companion that connects to your existing tools, learns your priorities, and takes actions on your behalf. It is now available with several exciting new capabilities.

Desktop App and Free/Plus Pricing Plans

The new Amazon Quick desktop app (Preview) allows users to stay connected to local files, calendars, and communications without needing a browser. This creates a personalized, seamless experience. Additionally, Free and Plus pricing plans have been introduced. Anyone can sign up within minutes using a personal email or existing accounts from Google, Apple, GitHub, or Amazon—no AWS account is required.

Generate Visual Assets on the Fly

Users can now create polished documents, presentations, infographics, and images directly within the Quick chat interface—no design skills or hours of formatting needed. This feature is available starting today.

Expanded Integrations

Quick is extending its native integrations to include Google Workspace, Zoom, Airtable, Dropbox, and Microsoft Teams. This makes it even easier to connect the assistant to the apps you already use.

Build Custom Apps with Natural Language

In preview, Amazon Quick enables users to create intelligent apps, dashboards, and web pages by simply describing what they want in natural language. These custom apps are deeply connected to your business data, unlocking new levels of productivity.

Amazon Connect Customer – Enhanced Experiences

Formerly just Amazon Connect, this solution now offers intelligent, personalized customer experiences across voice, chat, and digital channels. New configuration capabilities allow organizations to set up conversational AI in weeks, not months, and customize experiences without technical expertise.

Amazon Connect Health – Healthcare Workflows

Amazon Connect Health (Preview) brings agentic AI to healthcare. It supports clinical decision-making, patient communication, and operational workflows, enabling providers to deliver more efficient and personalized care.

Looking Ahead: Agents Reshaping Business

The announcements from the What’s Next with AWS event highlight a clear trend: agentic AI is moving beyond simple chatbots into autonomous assistants that can analyze, decide, and act across diverse business functions. With Amazon Quick for individual productivity and Amazon Connect for enterprise operations, AWS is positioning itself at the forefront of this transformation. As these tools move from preview to general availability, organizations should start exploring how to integrate them into their existing ecosystems.
